If you're going to give your dog a rawhide chew toy, be sure to check where it was manufactured. If was manufactured in China, DO NOT BUY IT! I don't recommend rawhide chew toys in general because the process used to make them involves the use of toxic chemicals, even if they are made in the USA. But Chinese-made rawhide toys are a nightmare-ish concoction of pure poisonous chemicals.
A much better chew toy for most dogs is a beef marrow bone, (sometimes called stew bones) cooked at high heat to melt out the fat and most of the marrow and then cooled to room temperature. Dogs have been chewing on bones for thousands of years. It cleans and sharpens their teeth. It also help build a layer of dentin that protects their teeth as they grow older. And it is an all natural chew toy.
