I know we said that we had never seen a dog have more fun than Sally at the lake house. However, Sammi comes in at a very close second! Of course Sammi got to stay for a whole week and Sally only got a weekend. Sammi's favorite thing to do is go swimming. She can swim for hours. Once she got comfortable with the lake, she got in the habit of swimming over to the public beach to say hello to everyone (we're in a small bay area of the lake) The funniest thing was when she decided that she would go out to greet all the kayakers. Lot's of people kayak on Keewaydin Lake because it is so beautiful and there is not a lot of power boat traffic.
When Sammi saw people in kayaks, she would swim out to say hi. This of course, produced howls of laughter from the people in the kayaks. Sammi is a very strong swimmer, so swimming all the way across the whole bay to greet a person in a kayak was no big deal. People could not believe that a dog was swimming out to greet them and when they finally noticed her, they would first just stop and look on in amazement, then they would start giggling as it became obvious that she was swimming out to see them and once Sammi swam around their boat and let them pat her on the head, they were in full blown hysterics. Then Sammi would calmly swim back across the bay and see what Keeway was doing.
