Wicked Winta Wethha

Today is one of those bitterly cold New England days. While the actual temperature is in the mid-30's with the 40 - 45 mph wind gusts however, the wind chill puts the temperature below zero at times. Due to the extreme temperature, we really want the pack running, (dogs can get frostbite, just like people) not walking, so we go to BeaverBrook Park instead of Fresh Pond. BeaverBrook has a huge wide open space in the center of the park which is perfect for tennis ball and stick chasing. Lots of people are off from work today, so there are are twenty or more dogs there to romp with.

Hubby hates the cold, so he has about 30 layers of clothing on and he looks like he's wearing an astronaut suit. All of a sudden he says "Oh crap, my cell phone is ringing." It's in his front pocket, so he whips off his space gloves, yanks his cell phone out along with a handful of cash that immediately flys up, up and away into the 40 mph wind. Now he tries to stuff the cell phone into his full face hat (the kind that covers your whole head, with just a small hole for your eyes) and pokes out one of his sun glass lenses. Then he tries to pull the full face hat off and the rest of his sun glasses go flying. The wind catches his hat and starts whipping it around in circles, further aggravating him. Of course, he misses the call. I can hear him cursing under his breath as he tries to re-insert the lense back into his sunglasses with his hands shaking from the cold.

I have to walk away so he can't hear me laughing. Meanwhile, the pack is in full tilt boogie. People are throwing tennis balls everywhere. My Belgian Shepherd is doing her best herding. Everyone is staying warm, except of course, poor Hubby.
