Never follow the instructions

A little post about feeding your four legged family member. Most dog foods come with instructions on how much food to give your dog based on his or her weight. These instructions are ALWAYS wrong. Just remember, they want you to buy as much of their dog food as possible. So they always tell you to feed your dog way more than they need. Your dog is in good shape if you can can see a slight inverted curve just in front of their hips, looking down on them. You should be able to put your hands on both sides of their chest and feel their ribs. If you feel fat, not ribs, it might be time for a diet, more exercise or preferably both. In any event, ignore the instructions on the dog food container - that's there to get you to buy more dog food, not to keep your dog healthy.
