A Couple of Weekends in Maine

Well, we finally were able to get up to our Summer house this Fall. I like to relax (for a change) and read when I'm there, so Kenny takes complete responsibility for Keeway and our 1 or 2 guests. Last weekend, we had a young "ball-obsessed" Lab puppy with a seemingly limitless amount of energy. We also have our senior citizen German Shepard, who's staying with us until his Mom gets home from active duty.

Kenny threw the ball for the pup and a huge stick for Keeway in our front yard (which is huge BTW) for a combined total of about 6 hours. At the end of the day, we brought the dog beds out on the screened-in porch and the big guys promptly took naps. The puppy was so tired, he couldn't keep his eyes open - but he was determined not to fall asleep. His little head kept dropping down on the bed and then he would pop up. It was so funny - "must not fall asleep, must not fall asleep." I tried to get a video - but I couldn't, oh, he was so funny - and soooo tired.

Our senior citizen goes everywhere with us. He really seems to enjoy Maine. He's too old for ball chasing but he likes the walk along the dirt road next to the lake. When Kenny is playing the "stick game" with Keeway or tennis ball chasing with our other guests, our senior citizen sits in the front yard and occasionally barks at the other dogs if he feels they are making too much noise for his liking.

He also likes curling up in front of the fireplace, but then so does Kenny.
